Mrs. Katie Reynolds-Sandstrom

It is time to welcome a new member of the team to the Rock Creek Elementary family!  We are excited to share the hiring of Mrs. Katie Reynolds-Sandstrom who will be serving as the Administrative Intern at Rock Creek Elementary starting July 1st, 2023.  As you are aware, Ms. Jill Nolte has served for many years at Rock Creek Elementary as the Assistant Principal and will retire at the end of June.  We are going to miss Ms. Nolte and her dedication to the students, staff, and community.  We sure hope that she enjoys every second of her much deserved retirement.

Mrs. Katie Reynolds-Sandstrom brings in a depth of experience, passion, and joy that will make her a highly valuable member of the team as she works along side our principal, Dr. Wayne Dierker, to help lead Rock Creek moving forward.

Here is a brief introduction from Mrs.  Reynolds-Sandstrom:

I am beyond thrilled to join the Rock Creek community and work alongside such fabulous educators.  Here is a snapshot of my experience.  I am a forever learner, a huge proponent of doing what is best for young scholars to thrive as humans and develop as lifelong learners.  I am also passionate that as people, we deserve the best in feeling supported in our roles, inspired to hone our craft, and reach our goals.  I am in my 18th year of teaching.  I taught for 16 years in Colorado, specifically Colorado Springs, at the middle school level.  Within those 16 years, I had the opportunity to wear a multitude of leadership hats from serving as Elective Team Lead, Performing Arts Chair, World Language Department Chair, and Team Leader, to co-developing and running assemblies, performing arts concerts and serving as a mentor for new teachers.  Within my Colorado time, I presented at the National Schools to Watch conference in Washington D.C. for my middle school, served at the state level of education on a team for standards revisions, developed a dance program within the school, and had the honor to take honorable mention as a Colorado Crystal Apple Teacher of the Year.

Upon moving to Missouri in the summer of 2021, I joined the Fort Zumwalt School District and served the 2021-2022 year as a Permanent Building substitute at JL Mudd.  Currently, I am teaching second grade.  Over the last two years, I have had the chance to gain some experience with Leader in Me and see how it works in action.  Lastly, I possess two bachelor degrees in the areas of Spanish and Theater and Dance, a Masters degree in Educational Administration, my teaching credential, as well as certifications in P.E.(K-12), Dance(K-12), Spanish(K-12), and Early Childhood Education.  I am excited to be a Rocket and to meet all the students, staff, and families!

We are excited for her to get started in July and for each of you to get to know her as she serves the Rock Creek school community!  Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Reynolds-Sandstrom.

Thanks!

Wayne Dierker
