Clubs

At Rock Creek Elementary, we offer a variety of before and after school clubs for students in Grades 1-5.  Please contact club sponsors for more specific information about each of the club offerings.  When do clubs meet?  Check out our Rock Creek Parent Calendar which is found on this website: http://rce.fz.k12.mo.us/cms/One.aspx?portalId=520830&pageId=520846   This is a live calendar and will be updated immediately with any changes in club meetings or if a club meeting is canceled.   

Grade 1:   
Earth Club
:  Lauren Frazier, Sponsor        Students will be discussing and implementing ideas about the environment through indoor/outdoor activities and projects.  

Positive Peer Influence:  Loren Trujillo, Sponsor    Students will learn leadership skills to help build confidence and character.  We will be studying the 7 Habits of Healthy Kids and learn how to be a positive influence in  our community.  


Grade 2:
  
PE Club:  
Danny Zull, Sponsor   Students will focus on lifetime healthy habits by including physical activity into everyday routines. 
 
Sign Language Club:   Kelsie Ballmann, Sponsor    Students will learn words, phrases, and the alphabet in sign language. 

Spanish Club:   Laura Fahnestock, Sponsor    Students in this club will explore the Spanish language and discover the culture of Mexico and Spain. 

Grade 3:   
Choir (Grades 3 & 4):  
Alicia Soller, Sponsor   Rockettunes Choir members will practice proper singing techniques with various forms of music.  They will perform several times during the school year including a musical with Drama Club. A performance ont he field at a Cardinals' game will conclude the year.   

PE Club:  Matt Sissom, Sponsor    Students will focus on lifetime healthy habits by including physical activity into everyday routines.  

S.H.A.R.E. Club:  Michelle Whalen, Sponsor    Students will participate in a variety of community service projects. 

Stamp Club:   Loren Trujillo, Sponsor   Students will learn about the art of stamp collecting.   

Student Council  (Grades 3-5):  Diane Monahan, Sponsor   Student Council members participate in a variety of leadership activities for the school.  Students are encouraged to get involved with the school and the community.  

Wee Deliver:  Lauren Frazier, Sponsor    The purpose of this club is to provide students with real-life experiences to apply basic writing skills such as writing a letter, using the mail system, and properly preparing mail.  Students are also responsible for picking up and delivering school mail between classrooms.   
 

Grade 4: 
Book Club (Grades 4 & 5):  Jeannine Mincher, Sponsor      Students will read, discuss, and enjoy the Mark Twain Award Nominees.  We will be voting for the 2016-2017 award winner.  

Choir (Grades 3 & 4):

Computer Enrichment Club:  Diane Monahan & Lisa Mueller, Sponsors    Being part of this club will enhance students' computer skills.  Computer techniques including use of the internet, web pages, excel, keyboarding and Publisher are a few skills/programs that will be introduced.  

Drama Club:   Marsha Caughlan, Sponsor    Students will practice their acting skill through drama games and mini skits.  The students will perform at the school's Veterans Day Assembly and in the musical with Choir.    

Math Club (Grades 4 & 5):  Jeannine Mincher, Sponsor    Students will enrich math skills through work on math problems and projects.  These students may be chosen to compete for the regional math contest in the Spring.  

Science Club:  Jennifer Cortez, Sponsor    Students will enhance their love of science exploring a variety of science topics.  

Student Council  (Grades 3-5):  Diane Monahan, Sponsor   Student Council members participate in a variety of leadership activities for the school.  Students are encouraged to get involved with the school and the community. 

Technology Student Association:  Evan Berrios, Sponsor    Students will experience engineering and problem solving first hand through programming and robotics.   


Grade 5:  
Art Club:  Evan Berrios, Sponsor Students will discuss artists, design yearbook art, and create art forms that are different from the regular fine arts class setting.  

Book Club (Grades 4 & 5):  Jeannine Mincher, Sponsor

​Newspaper Club:   Michelle Whalen, Sponsor   This club teaches students basic journalistic skills and elements of effective writing.  A newspaper is published by the club members multiple times a year.    

Safety Patrol:  Lisa Mueller, Sponsor    These students are chosen to be in Safety Patrol based on their demonstration of responsibility and good citizenship.  These students are trained to assist students during arrival and dismissal.   

Scrapbooking:  Diane Monahan, Sponsor   The club is designed to introduce students to the art of scrapbooking.  Each student will complete designed pages that will express and capture memories.  

Student Council  (Grades 3-5):  Diane Monahan, Sponsor   Student Council members participate in a variety of leadership activities for the school.  Students are encouraged to get involved with the school and the community. 

Yearbook Club:  Evan Berrios, Sponsor   Students will use photography and organizational skills to help create the school yearbook.
